What is your role at 93digital?

My role at 93digital is a front-end developer. 

What does an average day look like for you?

I wake up in the morning and the first thing I do is make a coffee and a breakfast smoothie. I then make my way onto the computer, looking through all the tasks and objectives I have for the day, then get to work.  As a frontend developer my day usually consists of converting designs generated by the creatives onto the web. After work I will run or cycle down the beach.

What’s the most challenging part of your job?

I think one of the most challenging parts of the job is hitting barriers within code. Sometimes the best way to debug or innovate is to step back and the ideas will come. Another challenging aspect of frontend development is building animations so they work seamlessly across different devices.

Any advice for those who want to do what you do?

Be passionate about your craft and strive to constantly improve and learn. You will always hit roadblocks and issues in development, so most importantly never give up. 

What future design and/or technology developments in the industry are you excited about?

A technology that I am very excited about is the potential of Real-Time Interaction Management across the web; specifically an example developed by a company called Thunderhead. This is one of their flagship technologies that delivers a personal experience to the user. Powered by their AI this tailors the content on a webpage depending on the user’s experiences (cookies) in real time. The application of this tool is progressive because this means that the content on a webpage will be prioritised for the preferences of the user. 

What are your passions/hobbies/interests?

I spend time making music, playing computer games, cooking and climbing, specifically bouldering. 

What’s your favourite thing to read in print/online?

I spend every morning reading Business Tech Insider which keeps me up to date with all the Business/Technology related topics. Highsnobiety is also a favourite of mine to read. This is a streetwear blog that covers various topics such as sneakers, music and arts. 

What music is currently trending on your playlist?

I listen to a variety of genres. I’m currently listening to Kool G Rap, LEENALCHI, Lightnin Hopkins, The Alchemist, Hawkwind, Tinariwen and Talking Heads.
