1. What is your role at 93digital?

WordPress Developer.

2. What does an average day for you look like?

My day starts with a strong coffee, after arriving at work I check my emails and see if there is an urgent request that needs to be actioned. If not, I continue with the project I was working on last. Before I actually open my code editor, I have to write a daily stand-up on Slack to inform the team of what I am working on and if there are any hurdles in my way. Sometimes my day is surrounded by developer meetings where we discuss and strategise our projects and processes.

3. What’s the most challenging part of your job?

The most challenging part is has been getting used to the coding standards and guidelines that are mandatory for the development team here at 93digital.

4. Any advice for those who want to do what you do?

There are a lot of tutorials on YouTube that can be followed in order to start developing WordPress based web applications, but I would highly recommend reading the WordPress Codex and W3 WCAG Guidelines (a.k.a. web content accessibility guidelines) to ensure standards.

5. What future design and/or technology developments in the industry are you excited about?

We have seen an order of magnitude improvement in many sectors of the tech industry because of Artificial Intelligence in the past two decades. I think AI is definitely going to push the way we design, develop, and market our web applications. One of the things I am particularly interested in is seeing how the designing element of a web application will be addressed by AI.

Furthermore, in September, Google announced that it has achieved “quantum supremacy”. Although we may not be able to apply it commercially for quite some time, I am very keen to see how in the future, we will have to improve our password encryption algorithm to resolve the implications posed by quantum computers.

6. What are your passions/hobbies/interests?

My core passion is academia, computer science in particular. I love following the status quo in general (so a lot of news) and philosophical debates. I am also a car enthusiast, so I love to drive around and explore new cars.

7. What’s your favourite thing to read in print/online?

Other than a lot of academic papers, I read a lot of south Asian literature which is mainly poetry.

8. Tell us a random fact about you…

I have lost my wallet around 20 times here in London and found it each time with everything in it. 😀

Let's Talk

Do you have a web design and build project coming up that you would like to talk about?
